Documentary research has revealed that a surprisingly large number of Anatolian rugs in Western collections have come from Transylvania. Holbeins, Ottoman court prayer rugs, Lottos, white-ground Ushaks, and other ‘Transylvanians’ had found their way into private or museum collections in Hungary, Austria, Swizerland, Italy, Germany, and the UK.
